Ada’s Bed

Bed made with Spalted Beech veneer arranged in a random orientation. Complete with floating rear bookshelves, shown in a Queen size. Inspired by a modernist 1930’s Bauhaus design this piece can me made in any size. The “Spalting” in the wood is a form of wood coloration caused by fungi, found in primarily dead trees or trees under stress. The unique color and patterns of wood are expressive, fluid, and rare making a playful and exciting form.  Currently in Europe this is a art form taking place with scientists and saw mills to artificially produce this sought after pattern by making swamps with different types of fungi and the right time and conditions. Certainly a very interesting wood and great for statement pieces like furniture or small cabinets. This piece is a great example of how you can utilize a sustainable veneer product and create fun playful patterns to suit the client and the space.
